Thanksgiving Holiday

After a rather quiet Thanksgiving day (just us at home this year). We took, what has become a tradition of sorts. We loaded up the kids and headed to Jonas Ridge. Where we took our annual hay ride to the Christmas tree fields at Sam's Nursery. It was a perfect day to be out with our kids. Mild enough for the babies, but cold enough to feel like Christmas was around the corner. Jonas Ridge is a beautiful part of Western NC and considered the Christmas Tree growing capital of the south.

And of course here are our blessings to be thankful for !

And this fine fir will grace our home for the next month. After that it will end up mulch, gracing a fine home.

Unlike the past year it was cold enough that the snow tubing park was open with plenty of snow for a good ride so we indulged for the kids a little, and bought some passes for a good hour of wet snowy fun. We hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving weekend.

Thanks Giving

So, I wrote a post last night on Giving, was told I sounded like I was on a soap box, so I took it down... lol. Not my intentions at all. I just wanted to pass the message along that there are many people who are in need of warm clothing and blankets. If you have any extra old ones hanging around your house, maybe think about donating them to people who are in need.

We had a good quick weekend. Adam worked on Friday and then again on Sunday, so it seems our weekend was kinda only 1 day long. Adam and the kids had their last winter swim meet till the new year on saturday. With no swim practice and no football games, I am not quite sure what we are going to do with our Saturdays. We went out to dinner on Saturday night and I lost the car keys. That was kinda embarassing. I have this huge purse that Angela gave to me and I threw the keys in it. Well they landed in a zipped side pocket. Adam was about to call a lock smith to see if they were locked in the car. I found them in the nick of time. :0) I felt stupid. And of course then there is little Aiden. He finished his fourth round of a different antibiotic on Thursday. The doctor checked his ear on Wednesday when we went in for shots and said that his ear drum still had water on it but it would be fine. Wouldn't that be nice. Anyways, in watching Aidens grumpy behavior and finding a swollen lymph node on the back of his neck, I came to the conclution that his ear was still not healed. 3 months and 4 antibiotics later. Geez. Of course the next option is putting in the tubes. I am fine with that.. but will that really solve this problem? Adam reminded me about the garlic oil as a natural antibiotic, and the lobelia oil as a pain reliever. So I started them again on Friday night. That bump on the back of his neck is now half the size. So maybe, just maybe this will work. I will keep putting it in his ear at bedtime. He stinks like some garlic bread or something, but he is cute enough to make up for it.

Makeshift Red Riding Hood

So, the little 8 year old girl who resides in our home, comes to us the other day to say that the school was having a dress up reading night, and she was dressing up as little red riding hood. This is a day or two after she announced her running for class president. Needless to say, she has kept us busy this week thinking/writing speeches, slogan ideas, etc., and thinking about cosutmes. I procrastinated the costume all week and the last two hours this is what we came up with.

She had a great time there, she read her part clearly and she doesnt have stage fright. Such a lucky girl!

Snow!

Today Adam woke me up and said... it snowed. So naturally, I hopped out of bed to check it out. This is what I found on my car. I LOVE to see the snow, even if it is just 5 flakes on my car. lol

Speaking of that car. I feel that we are so fortunate and so blessed to F-I-N-A-L-L-Y have been able to get our family a van! Yeah! Here is the new ride we purchased last week after our other cars transmission died. Ian and Jade seemed over joyed when they were able to sit a whole foot apart from each other. That didnt last long though, they were right back to sitting side by side anyways. Silly little peeps. And.. I find myself making a lot of stupid excuses for needing to go places and Adam has been teasing me alot about it ... LOL. I have always wanted a van. I love it!

Congrats to Little Jadey, She worked really hard to make the Honor Roll this 9 weeks. Good Job Girl! We are very proud of you for all your hard work. She also made sure she had perfect attendance. How cool is that?! One other cool thing about lil Jadey is that she is such a go-getter. Yesterday she came home from school and let me know she was running for class president.. and was in the top two. Wow. Anyone have any ideas on what we are suppose to make posters about? I have no idea on this subject. LOL! Here's a pic of Jade with some of the other kids on the honor roll. She looks so sad because she thought we wern't there to see her get her award. (sometimes we like to trick her...) She is in the front row with the purple coat on.

NICU Friends

Today we stopped by the NICU where the boys spent their first 3 months to say hello to the nurses, and to show them how much they have grown up. It was a short/sweet visit. We are so thankful for all the skilled Nurses and of course the Doctors who took care of the little boys. Here is a pic of them.

Well Check Up

Early this morning I took the boys to the Pediatricians office for their well check ups and to re-check Aidens ears. (we went on monday and he had another ear infection). Both boys are doing great still. Aiden weighed in at 19 lbs, 8 oz. (only 8 more ounces till we can swith the carseat around finally).. and Andrew was weighing 17 lbs, 4 oz. Awesome. The boys got their 1 year shots, a hemoglobin test and hearing tests. They are wanting to schedule eye tests to have them re checked as well. Andrew passed his hearing tests with out any troubles. Aiden left ear failed. That is the one that keeps having the infections. Now we have been referred to a ear, nose and throat dr. Most likely our lil Aiden will have tubes put in, in the very near future. So that is that. Other than that.. we have a couple more months on formula and then it is off to cows milk we go..! Yipee!

The Birthday Boys

1 year ago today.

I will never ever for the rest of my life forget this moment. This was the morning after the boys were born. We went up to the hospital, and for the first time without being rushed we were able to look at those little tiny creatures that they called babies. This picture is me, checking out Andrew. Adam and I were so overwhelmed by everything at this moment in time.

Here I am with my finger touching Aiden for the first time. We were not able to touch them (for very long) or hold them for about 3 more weeks after this day. Here he is at 1 pound 13 ounces. The look on little Jades face in this picture says so much. We had always told her we were going to have babies.. but what were these little things in the beds with all the horns and whistles going off? I think it scared her. And.. here we are one year later. Aiden weighing in at 18 lbs, 8 ounces and Andrew following behind at 16 pounds 5 ounces. Wow. This year has gone by remarkably fast for us. It has been so wonderful to be able to work from home and watch these boys grow. To watch every new milestone is simply an awesome experience for me. I am so thankful for these two miracle babies. They have been the biggest blessing in all of our lives.

Halloween Pics

What started out as a beautiful Halloween Day ... turned into something more.. good? Oh No, I would say it was a bad day.. lol. We dont usually have very many bad days in our house, but it really would be classified as just that. I won't go into all the boring details, but thank goodness all days aren't like that one..

Here are just a few pics of the kids. We didnt get around to taking the boys trick or treating, and Jade went with her friend, so I don't have pics of them with their full costumes on and ready to go.

Bombers are County Champs

Tonight was the McDowell county youth football championship game. Ian's school Marion elementary (the Bombers) team was top seeded going into tonight game against the West Marion( Panthers). Grammy and Poppy and some of his cousins were out in support. It was a hard fought game from the beginning. Ian plays corner back on defense and made some great hits through out the game. Late in the fourth quarter the opposing team had one more shot from the 30 yard line on 4 th and 5 to tie the game. The Panthers went 3 wide one the left , (Ian's turf) they went for a long pass and Ian jump high tipped the ball and broke up the pass . His team went onto victory 12 to 6. We were all proud to see what a awesome athlete Ian has become. He loves the game and the friends he has made. Here are some celebration pics, sorry they are blurry from the phone cam.
