EveryThing In Twos

Today little Andrew had his ear tubes put in. He did great. He was a little cranky for the next few hours, but slept most of them anyways. Here is a little picture of him. I couldnt figure out why the camera was zoomed in so close, it appears it has a zoom setting ... and I finally got it turned off.

Snowboardin' at Sugar Mnt.

Finally the condition came together to make a great night of snowboarding for the first time this season. If your not familiar with the southeast in winter, well.....it goes from spring like to artic like in a few days around here. So we have to pick and choose the best days to have a comfortable ski trip.
Last week there were below zero temps and lots of snow up in the mountains and gradually it warmed to the mid 40's and I decided it was the right night to take Ian and his cousin Josh to Sugar Mnt
.
We started on "easy street" to get our skills back, then proceeded up the long lift to the top of Sugar. Where it was colder and the base was a packed powder and perfect for carving on a board. I was quite surprised the guys took right off shredding back and forth with no problems( been a year)I kept talking and pushing them to the terrain park not really serious, but man they really jumped on it literally.
Ian and Josh both took to the rail slides as if they had been doing it for years. I guess the Gilliam guys and board sports just go together. Of course as bad as Dad wanted to hit the slides and ramps, his bad knee and his ability to keep going at his job gave better thought of it. Anyway it way fun to see these little guys build some confidence taking risks. We will be taking Jade when Uncle Rob comes in a few weeks to get skills on a board. I know she has the firecracker in her to make a fine snowboarder, I cant wait to see that. Sorry I lost our old camera on the slope first run so pics are in cell phone quality.

Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy

Aidens OT has been pressing that we really needed to have a Physical therapist come to check out his legs etc. She noticed that he curls his toes pretty tightly. . . (been doing this for months). lol.
So the awesome Childrens Early Development Services ran right over to our house and did an evaluation. These people ARE awesome BTW! They will do anything for us that we request. Oh, back to the appointment.. She watched Aiden crawl around and interact and play with toys for about 45 minutes. Asking lots of questions as they usually do. When she was done, she said. Well, Aiden has a version of Cerebral Palsy called Hemiplegia. I will not lie. The words hurt kinda. He. was. labeled.
Of course we were prepared to hear this. The Doctor that said that to me kept asking if I had any questions. No, I got GoOgLe! LOL! But, I just kinda hated to have him labeled. Anyways, she also mentioned that she had never seen a baby with such a severe hemmorage do SO well. She said his motions are great in his joints (hips - mid body) while getting around.
Hearing the news changes absolutly nothing for us. He is still our little Aiden. He is not handicapped. He may be slow with his left fingers and left toes.. But.. that is why we have two sets of each.. isn't it??! His right side works great! We of course will continue to work with his hands and toes, but it will not hold us back. From this we will be stronger!

Mischievous Little Peeps

The boys have found themselves a secluded little hide-a-way place all of their own. Located behind the chair and under the end table. This is a great place for them as Parents don't usually bother them for at least 5 minutes. They can destroy Moms magazines and then eat them, hide the car keys and enjoy their bottles without interruption. One of the little fellas even dragged their car back there.
Here are a couple pics of the place. The second pic was out of focus and I lightened it so you could see Andrew.. LOL. These. Boys. Are. Crazy.

Aiden chased the camera out of the hide-a-way.

FirsT SnoW 2009

Adam called us from work tonight to see if we had gone out to play in the snow, and I thought he was totally kidding. Then I looked out the window to see a winterwonderland!!! How exciting. We all threw on our coats and out we went.

The fellas were not to happy with the coats. ~ they could hardly get around

Sleeping Pill

Aiden was fighting me alllll morning long. He didn't want to go to sleep. He didnt want me to hold him, or any thing else. Finally I just put him in the high chair, and off to sleep he went. In this video, you will see that he was really not wanting to take his eyes off of me..

Lunch Time

We have been having a pretty good year so far. These little boys are keeping us up and running at all times during their waking hours! I have been on and off a little sick with a cold. Not to bad thankfully, but my energy level hasn't been quite where it should be! Little Andrew is now having repeating ear infections.. We have an appointment with the tube dr. again.. lol. And most likely he will have tubes put in next Tuesday. Yeah for Andrew. Yeah for ME! No more weekly dr. appointments!
Neither Andrew nor Aiden are walking yet. Andrew is pretty close. He is starting to walk along cupboards and stuff. So he is almost there. Aiden has learned to pull himself up now and has been mastering that skill. His therapy is helping him so much. Every week there are such noticable changes in him. We are so thankful to have early intervention services for him. :0)

Back To Regularly Scheduled Life

We are back in action to regular life. Holidays are over - School has started - and we are back on track... Hopefully we will be able to get the babies back on their regular schedule also. Aiden is soooo not doing his 8pm bedtime anymore, Andrew will stay up until all hours of the night playing.. and then there is Jade whom at 1 am (most nights during the break) would give me a hard time about turning her TV off!? What the heck. We definitely have a night owl family. I could come up with so many new years resolutions this year that it wasn't even funny. So instead I just stuck to a few little ones. My biggest goal this year is to build up food storage and storage of other stuff that we use such as shampoo/conditioner, soap, laundry soap, toothpaste etc. Over the past few months I have run across some really interesting blogs where the people will go shopping at CVS with coupons, and hit the sales.. and then after CVS rewards them with 'bucks' to use towards their next purchases. I was sorta sceptical at first because I have always been under the impression that CVS is just expensive. Then I just keep reading about how they do it.. and what they do is just keep rolling the 'bucks' over and over again, essentially getting tons of free crap. It's kinda fun .. really.. like a treasure hunt.. LOL ** CVS is just like a Walgreen's or Rite Aid. In fact, both those places have awesome deals too. We don't have a Walgreen's here, but there are great links on my side bar to the blogs that tell about the deals there.. :0) I am going to try and keep a running total of the $$ amount I save this year, just for fun. I may get bored with this 'hobby' as Adam likes to call it. We will see.
Here is my first trip.. I spent only $11 out of pocket for all this cool stuff... and I got 7 'bucks' for the next trip.
