Crazy Gas Prices!

So this morning I got a rather strange text message from my niece that said, "you might want to go fill up your gas tank, gas is suppose to jump up .20 cents today and in the next few days could get as high as $6.00 a gallon." My answer was ...lol.. OK! (sarcastically laughing that she would send such a message) Skip ahead two hours. The boys and I ran out to get some things from the grocery store and I thought, yeah.. I'll stop in and get some gas while I am out. so I go to the station that is usually pretty cheap... This is what I saw.. A full gas station with 4 - 5 cars waiting in each line.. I thought that is dumb. I'll just cruise on over to Ingles gas. There was no one even there, and the price was a little cheaper than the last place, so I pull on in... and they don't have ANY gas. Hmmm.. strange. So I go on down the road to the next place and the lines are short and I feel in luck. I pulled on up to pump gas and wammo.. their credit/debit machine is down cash only. So at this point in time I am thinking that we are having some national emergency that I was never informed about. I cant buy any gas and the place I can, i need cash. So I drive on over to the ATM and go hit the next gas place. The gas has jumped up since the last 3 stations and is now over $4. a gallon. Weird. This experience really started to frighten me. We always talk about getting ready for a disaster, but we never do. At this time, it is now my goal to get the food storage built up. I am setting a certain amount of money to buy food storage each month starting tomorrow. :0)
On another note: I fixed this picture in photoshop.. and it makes me laugh so hard... happy laughing!

FOOD STORAGE IS THE KEY TO UNSETTLING EVENTS!!!! It give me a little peace of mind knowing that I can get through some tough events if they come my way.. Trish check out the cannery they have a great price on large cans of rice, flour, sugar, beans, powdered milk, and other goods. I have been on this kick since I went to Slidell and saw the devestation of the Hurricane. That is one of the reason I picked up the canning bug. I guess I could go on and on but a little a month is the right thing to do.

Awesome photos!!! And yes -- food storage is a good thing. Look on the church website -- they have great tips, and updated storage life for various foods. They last a lot longer than once thought. Good for you!!!

You also need to have some cash on hand for those emergencies. I have been using my cash. This is a good reminder to reimburse my cash stash!
