Today I took the boys in for an evaluation with the early childrens intervention services. Since the boys were born at 25 weeks, and can have a lot of developmental problems/delays/etc. because of that, we receive this service. They came out the first time right after we got Aiden home (Andrew was already home). What they do is they sit and evaluate how the boys play with toys, how they babble, how they react to certain things, they also, weigh, measure, etc. Then they give us a report that tells us exactly where the boys are developmentally. They were evaluated this morning for about 2 and a half hours. That is a lot of play time for two little babies and a lot of questions time for me.. So, I totally have a headache and am sorry if the words are mixed up or dont make sense I am a little scatterbrained this week. I would write later, but tend to forget things alot.. LOL!
Anyways, across the board both boys are thriving! They are doing awesome! They are each right on track for their adjusted age of 7 months old. (some things they do are right on track for their real age of 10.5 months old. Andrew weighed in today at 17 lbs 4 oz and Aiden weighed in at 18 lbs 11 oz. There are a couple little troubles that the ladies have become aware of this time. One of them of course is that Aiden will often keep his left hand fisted and he doesnt prefer to use it, but sometimes he will. And the other issue that they are a small amount concerned with is that Andrew doesnt babble. Aiden goes on and on.. Andrew stays pretty quiet. They evaluated Andrew to be at a 3 months old age communication wise. He could be delayed/slow.. or he could just be slower to start babbling.. at this point in time who knows.
Both boys will be seeing an occupational therapist for an evaluation, and Aiden will have a therapist to help with his hand/arm and Andrew will have a therapist who will hekp with his gag reflex and also his communication skills. Exciting Stuff! We are so proud of these boys they have come so far so quickly.
