Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy

Aidens OT has been pressing that we really needed to have a Physical therapist come to check out his legs etc. She noticed that he curls his toes pretty tightly. . . (been doing this for months). lol.
So the awesome Childrens Early Development Services ran right over to our house and did an evaluation. These people ARE awesome BTW! They will do anything for us that we request. Oh, back to the appointment.. She watched Aiden crawl around and interact and play with toys for about 45 minutes. Asking lots of questions as they usually do. When she was done, she said. Well, Aiden has a version of Cerebral Palsy called Hemiplegia. I will not lie. The words hurt kinda. He. was. labeled.
Of course we were prepared to hear this. The Doctor that said that to me kept asking if I had any questions. No, I got GoOgLe! LOL! But, I just kinda hated to have him labeled. Anyways, she also mentioned that she had never seen a baby with such a severe hemmorage do SO well. She said his motions are great in his joints (hips - mid body) while getting around.
Hearing the news changes absolutly nothing for us. He is still our little Aiden. He is not handicapped. He may be slow with his left fingers and left toes.. But.. that is why we have two sets of each.. isn't it??! His right side works great! We of course will continue to work with his hands and toes, but it will not hold us back. From this we will be stronger!

Aiden is a beautiful baby. Like you said -- both sets of hands and toes work. A girl in my home ward growing up had that. Her parents encouraged her in sports to help strengthen the affected side. Crazy thing about it -- I didn't ever really notice there was any problem. Over time she had really developed great control. Aiden is doing GREAT!!! All "this" is is just that...a label. He'll prove to everyone it doesn't apply to him. Your boys are AMAZING.

You are the best parents every! Those little boys are so lucky to have you as a mom and Adam as a dad. I'm sure that this is why he was chosen to come to your home because you guys will care for him in the best possible way. They are both so very cute and growing up so fast. How much fun it must be to have twins.

Hey, I don't know what that all means but I do know that working his hands and feet sounds like a good thing to do. You are totally blessed and I think things are going to be okay.

Awww, well his right side will make up for it, and everyone I know who has physical challenges makes up for it in spirit and personality!
