Finally the condition came together to make a great night of snowboarding for the first time this season. If your not familiar with the southeast in winter, well.....it goes from spring like to artic like in a few days around here. So we have to pick and choose the best days to have a comfortable ski trip.
Last week there were below zero temps and lots of snow up in the mountains and gradually it warmed to the mid 40's and I decided it was the right night to take Ian and his cousin Josh to Sugar Mnt
We started on "easy street" to get our skills back, then proceeded up the long lift to the top of Sugar. Where it was colder and the base was a packed powder and perfect for carving on a board. I was quite surprised the guys took right off shredding back and forth with no problems( been a year)I kept talking and pushing them to the terrain park not really serious, but man they really jumped on it literally.
Ian and Josh both took to the rail slides as if they had been doing it for years. I guess the Gilliam guys and board sports just go together. Of course as bad as Dad wanted to hit the slides and ramps, his bad knee and his ability to keep going at his job gave better thought of it. Anyway it way fun to see these little guys build some confidence taking risks. We will be taking Jade when Uncle Rob comes in a few weeks to get skills on a board. I know she has the firecracker in her to make a fine snowboarder, I cant wait to see that. Sorry I lost our old camera on the slope first run so pics are in cell phone quality.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun! It makes me want to go snowboarding again...but i'd probably end up breaking a leg or something. :D Glad you guys had a good time.
Awesome! Too bad the snow will pretty much be gone when you guys come to Utah in April. We could have a blast skiing/snowboarding! Got 3 kids here who board, and the rest of us ski. Good luck Jade!
