ToddleR ProofinG

We have tried and tried to toddler proof our home so that the boys wont hurt themselves. Each day that passes, they find something new to play with/on that endangers their little lives. Here is just one example of a minute in our home.

Sunday afternoon, Adam just finished cooking up some pizza for the older kids, when Aiden decided he would like to play with the oven. Adam asks me to go out to the van and get a bungee cord so we could keep the oven door closed. The word "NO" just isn't cutting it. I hop up from the computer desk to run out and grab it. I walk back in to the house to Adam holding a screaming hurt baby. He jumped up on the computer chair that I left out, and fell off backwards hitting his head pretty hard on the way down. Scary Stuff. We try to solve one problem and a whole new problem happened. {...sigh...}

Now we have a Bungee Corded Oven Door
And a Bungee Corded Fridge..
{Aiden broke a Salsa jar after getting in there}
Lots and Lots of Closed Doors
{favorite places: Sissy's room & the Toilet}
And a Table with No Chairs
{Aiden climbs up and sits on the table}
Seriously, these boys are kicking our butts in the department of toddler proofing. Things we think are safe.. are not safe at all. I use to think we were pretty good parents.. but these boys are making me question this.

Oh, and while I am at it, one more not-so-funny, funny story. The other night while I was cooking dinner I put the boys in the front room and put the gate up. That way they would be out of the way and safe while I cooked dinner. They were in there playing away, while a Baby-Einstein played on tv. Then I noticed it got quite, other than the noise of a stuck Aiden who needed help. I let him try to get himself out of whatever {it's usually just the laundry basket} he was stuck in for few minutes before going and offering my help.

When I went in to assist Aiden, I found him stuck under the opened screen door and Andrew was sitting out in the pool playing. I was shocked to see this had happened. I guess one of the older kids came through and left the screen door opened. They are no dummies - Out they went. As humorous as the look on Andrews face was {a look of pure and complete freedom} the situation scared me. They could have been gone in those few minutes.

Ok, I am done typing. I gotta go pack for our vacation! LOL! I am blogging to avoid packing.

I am laughing my head off! We have our kitchen chairs usually lined up in a row against the couch b/c Adam tries to use them to stand up on the table, or stands on the chairs and leans on the backs to where they almost tip over. The toilet -- yep. All our doors are shut as well. Gate on the stairs, automatic hinged door for the basement that swings shut after you...The only thing I can't figure out is how to keep him out of the automatic fridge water -- he can reach the lever now.
